DRYER VENT FAQS

Why do I need my dryer vent cleaned?

Because we need the money, and you need your dryer vent cleaned.
It increases dryer efficiency (fancy way of saying that your clothing will dry faster.)
It will save you money – faster dryer = shorter drying time = less money spent.
It will prolong the life of your dryer.
Clogged dryer vents are one of the top causes of fires in the United States….yes, really.

How often do I need the service?

Both the National Fire Association and most dryer manufacturers recommend that dryer vents be cleaned at least once a year, assuming normal usage (Hint – normal usage is five loads a week, but let’s be honest, we all know you do more.)

How do I know if my dryer needs service?

If you (well, actually your dryer) experience any of the following (if you experience any of these please seek medical attention immediately):
Drying your clothes takes longer than usual.
There is a burning smell coming from the dryer, when it’s on.
You notice lint stuck to the dryer or the wall next to the dryer.
Your laundry room or dryer area is excessively warm and or moist.
Your vent flap outside does not open and close properly (that’s the little thingy outside that hot air comes out of and flaps up and down.)
If there is a bird’s nest on the outside of your dryer vent exhaust (hint – you probably should have called us a while ago.)

Can I do the cleaning myself?

Well, yeah, if you’re handy and have a compressor, a strong vacuum, an anemometer and a few other nifty tools, and have an understanding of basic building codes in your state, understand when and where to use flex vs. rigid venting, what kind of guard and vent caps are proven to work, if you should use tape or screws (hint, using screws in NY state is not code compliant – that one is on the house) then yes, you can. Chances are though if you read that entire run-on sentence, you either don’t have those or you don’t want to spend your time on something you don’t specialize in. The old “What can go wrong?” adage comes to mind.

What should I expect from a professional dryer vent cleaning company?

To leave your dryer drying better than before.
To leave your dryer and laundry room (within reason) looking better than before.
To be respectful of your property and home (mud on your carpet is a big no no.)
To not nickel and dime you over every little thing.
To not do a bait and switch (well I should really charge you $4,699.74 BUUUT since I really like you guys so much I will do it for $450…and if you pay cash, $250)

I have lint on my dryer or around my dryer area. Is that ok?

Noooo. This is a clear indication that either your dryer vent is disconnected, or there is blockage. Call us right away… to service your dryer vent…or just to talk.

What should I do if I smell gas by my dryer?

Well to start you should not have read all the way down to here! Immediately call 911 or the utility company! Like now! Stop reading for G-d’s Sake!

How much does your service cost?

We charge a flat fee, no surprises (contact us for pricing details). That includes dryers on the second floor, long runs, dryers with “interesting” venting and other issues – you know… the type for which other companies nickel-and-dime.

Do you give multiple dryer discounts?

You bethca! For each dryer knock off $99

I need my dryer cleaned more than once a year. Is the price the same?

Nope, we’ll give you a nice break. Ask one of our awesome technicians before they start the work or call for details ….we want to focus only on short productive answers here.

Why are there no more FAQs?

Really?! That’s your question? Ok you need to call us…and schedule your dryer vent cleaning…now…and then take up bottle cap collecting…just remember to empty your pockets of bottle caps before you put them in the laundry…they can mess up your dryer and then you will need to call…I think you see where this is going.

HVAC DUCT FAQS

What is an HVAC system?

Well it stands for – heating ventilating and air conditioning system – so, yeah, that’s what it is.

Why do I have to clean my HVAC duct?

Over time, moisture builds up on the walls of the duct. Trapping dirt and other things you don’t like to breath, like mold. Ha! There, we said it, yes, mold can start growing in dirty air ducts.

How long does a cleaning take?

Depending on how many vents you have can be anywhere from 3-5 hrs. Yes, it’s a project.

What part of the HVAC system do you clean?

We remove and deep clean the actual vent then send special equipment up into your trunk lines as well as the air intakes to clean…well, everything.

What’s an air intake?

Air intake is a magical place somewhere in your house that pulls air in through a filter then into your HVAC unit to treat the air and make it hotter or colder.

What’s a filter?

Nope sorry, not going to fall for it, we know you know. But seriously, your filter on your air intake must be changed or cleaned monthly.

How often should I get my HVAC ducts cleaned?

Should be cleaned every 3-5 years

What parts do you clean?

We clean, The end vent, the trunk lines, air intakes.

Do you clean the coil?

Not unless we have to – a coil should really only be patched with by a licensed HVAC repairman/repairperson

What is the coil?

Well if you didn’t know, why did you ask – – It’s a…well, coil inside the actual air handler and should not need to be cleaned unless there is something wrong with the system or its really really old.

How do you charge?

We charge per system and before you ask, a system is one compressor (that’s that big box outside with a fan in it) and whatever vents up to 10 vents for that system. Really this sounds way to complicated, just call us and we will explain over the phone.

How do I know how many units I have?
